In other news, I'm ultra excited today as I'm going out to meet my new nephew, Samuel. Thank God for his quick smooth arrival. Family is such a blessing. There is now four absolutely beautiful children (and two wonderful parents) who call me Aunty Mim and I love spending time with them all.

thought of the day:

small children are unconditionally loving and accepting and caring and completely non-judgemental. and these are not learnt skills. we dont teach that, its in them. its goodness.

fast forward 10 years in our world and they are rude, selfish, obnoxious teenagers appearing on world's strictest parents .

what happened?

I continued to get my ducks in a row this week by almost quitting my job for another full time position. the result ? my director freaking out, not wanting to lose me, offering me close to full time hours. yay. i'm happy now. guaranteed 35 hours a week. the days are looongg. (10 and a half hour shift anyone ?) but thats ok. i can keep this job which has much less stress, pressure and responsibility than the other job.

that's one duck sorted.

hump day

its wednesday !

a very busy day today. but good. i'm finally feeling that the children are starting to take me seriously. they're starting to bond with me and wonder what my name is.

there is this one kid who is naughty a lot. or should i say, behaves inappropriately.. . everyone yells at him and sends him to the thinking chair but i try to talk to him about what he's thinking and why he did that etc and stick up for him when i can.

today when i was leaving, he yelled out to me. i turned and said goodbye.
then he asked for a hug before i left. i walked over and he gave me a great hug..
i might just be getting through to him.

hope the rest of the week goes extra quick for y'all.

the dragging mother and child

i saw on the news this morning the footage of the mother dragging her child out of the store in america. (if you havent seen it, click on this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEtzWY_VwhQ

i saw it and i laughed. and u know what i thought about that mother? good.on.her.

obviously her child is having a huge tantrum and refuses to walk. trying to pick up a screaming resisting child is quite dangerous, considering they could throw themselves on the ground at any moment and crack their head open.

so ?

what else could this mother do ? but safely drag her child who was wearing a back/shoulder harness out of the store.

notice this - the child is not resisting the dragging. the child is not trying to get up in any way. SO. either the child is THAT stubborn that he still refuses to make life any easier for his mum coz he didnt get that damm lolly or he's enjoying the ride! children drag themselves around the house for FUN people.

do i know what this mother is probably feeling as she drags her child out of the store? you bet. that poor mother was at the end of her tether. the child is fine. have some compassion.

it was inappropriate yes. a rap on the fingers for mum maybe. but child abuse charges? come on.

i had a nice day today. i went to a friend's place and we went for a walk. walks are nice. then we watched a movie - Desperado with Antonio and Salma. it was a bit gruesome for us tea drinking, knitting ladies but you get that. and we knitted. I came home and kept knitting. and I had some more tea. recharging myself for what is to come. its cold out. i have every heater on, jumper, trakkies, scarf, and ugg boots. my feet are almost beginning to sweat and i'm pretty sure my cheeks are going red. but that's ok. i am warm. the photo is a bit crap sorry, so is my knitting for that matter, but that's not the point is it. no.
